Stories are at the heart of who we are as individuals and as a community. Participants are invited to tell stories about uplifting moments when they either were the recipient of kindness or engaged in an act of service. These stories will be shared in an exchange based on Narrative 4 protocols. Students will leave not only feeling seen and heard but also inspired knowing that we matter and that we make a difference. Our session will conclude with a celebration of our shared stories with cookies. Prompts will be shared beforehand, so individuals can come with a story in mind.
Participants will create these kits with oral hygiene supplies after Craig Russell, OpSmile's international programs manager, speaks to students. Craig will give a broad overview of OpSmile, as long as more information about their amazing programs, giving students experience in the medical field.
We will be leading a tutorial to make paper flower bouquets, but anyone is welcome to explore any origami designs they want. In this session, you will learn how to create a few origami classics. Additionally, we’ll write notes for a children’s hospital. At the end of the session, we will donate both our origami creations and notes.
After a brief presentation about pride flags, you can begin to make bracelets based on different pride flags or bracelets with different pronouns on them. These bracelets will then be donated to Center Lane, a safe space for LGBTQ+ youth!
Imagine a table set for Shabbat—but with empty seats, symbolizing the American hostages still held captive since October 7, 2023. In this powerful session and art installation, you’ll learn about their stories, reflect on the impact of their absence, and take action by writing letters of support to their families. This is more than just a discussion—it’s a chance to stand in solidarity, raise awareness, and make a difference.
Note: We are hopeful that we will also be able to hear from a member of the Hostages and Missing Families Forum. Depending on their availability, the session will run either with this speaker or without.
We will be using old t-shirts and transforming them into tote bags. These tote bags will then be donated to Lifting Up Westchester! This activity is an example of a solution to fast fashion, which will also be talked about during the session.
Come have fun while walking the track in support of the Women's Sports Foundation. There will be baked goods sold–the proceeds collected will support the Women’s Sports Foundation.
